Bow Chocks

Con-Tech offers bow chocks and other wholesale marine hardware parts

Con-Tech is a leader in bow chocks custom manufactured by suppliers in China, Taiwan, India or elsewhere, many of whom are ISO certified. Con-Tech bow chocks, heavy metal castings with two bent and inward curving horn-shaped arms between which mooring ropes pass to keep a vessel in place, are available in many different types and materials.

Con-Tech offers skene type, closed and straight bow chocks. Con-Tech bow chocks can be made in stainless steel or bronze and polished if required. Our stainless steel marine hardware is highly resistant to rust and benefits from the properties of stainless steel which is used in marine and shipbuilding as well as innumerable other applications and industries. As an iron-containing alloy—a substance made up of two or more chemical elements—it is stain and rust resistant with more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys, in addition to many proprietary alloys produced by different stainless steel producers.

Our bronze marine hardware has superior resistance to ammonia stress corrosion cracking compared with brass. On the whole, the higher the tin content, the higher the seawater corrosion resistance. When properly manufactured, bronze tends to corrode evenly and has little tendency to pit. Thus, bronze is used for marine hardware like bow chocks, as well as propellers, submerged bearings, springs, bearings, gears, and fasteners.

Did You Know?

We have always been anxious to explore the sea. As early as 3000 B.C. the first sea-going sailing ships were built in China and Taiwan, while Egyptians were assembling their first wooden hulls. In 1200 B.C., Phoenicians built large merchant ships and by 500-200 B.C., a naval fleet was an integral part of the Chinese military. Although European navigational technology remained comparatively primitive compared to these cultures, by the Renaissance many European cultures mastered the sea.

Today more than 50,000 commercial vessels ply the seas and seagoing vessels vary widely. High speed multi-hulled crafts, special purpose, submersible, offshore oil and fishing vessels and various recreational rowed masted and motorized crafts just begin to scratch the surface of available marine vessels. Harbor crafts, floating dry docks and cable layers continue the nearly endless list. And today Con-Tech marine hardware can be found in a variety of these vessels.
